Using De-Escalation Techniques in Everyday Life

Description

We all experience situations in our personal and professional lives where we wished we would have handled the situation differently.  Weather it is a frustrated customer, client, co-worker, spouse or significant other, we all have been in one of those situations where de-escalation techniques would or could lead or help guide the situation to a more productive, positive, and pleasurable outcome.  This workshop will focus on practical techniques and actions that you can actively take that will help keep these interactions positive, even tempered, and moving in the right direction.

We will review the “Communication Keys to Crisis De-Escalation”, Giving your “Undivided Attention”, recognizing the feelings of each party and the impact those feeling are having on the comfort of the parties and the impact on resolution.  We will address the importance of being non-judgmental, being patient, allowing individuals time to talk, the importance of venting, and time management.  We will also analyze the impact of operational systems and procedural & administrative constructions that systemically and unintentionally may increases the levels of frustration and anxiety.  Recognizing all the above, the most important part of the de-escalation process is you and your ability to control your emotions and think effectively during periods of attack.  We will provide techniques and simple tricks to help us all maintain our personal control over ourselves and the role we play in achieving successful resolution.
