Word Trap Training

Description:

Word Trap training is the unique art of helping adults overcome childhood teachings and challenges with self-expression through words. During this session, childhood learning styles and struggles adults have finding the right words to use to communicate properly will be examined. Word decoding activities will take place to help to increase our knowledge and to have fun with words.

Ms. Maria A. Goss

Ms. Maria A. Goss began her career as the designer/developer of a Head Start Home base program in the City of Columbus, Ohio.  She was one of the first early childhood managers/directors to be certified in the High Scope curriculum in Franklin County. Ms. Goss went on to develop the partnership program at the agency, overseeing 20 partnership programs across the City of Columbus.

Ms. Goss went on to become the Associate Director of a Head Start Program, where she was responsible for the program implementation and direction of the facilities and staff of several traditional Head Start Centers and all partnership collaborations.  Under her leadership, four traditional Head Start Centers and eleven partnership collaborations were established.

Ms. Goss has held the positions of Head Start director at Stark County Community Action Agency, Early Childhood Coordinator of Canton City Schools in Canton, Ohio, Early Head Start Childcare Partnership Director of Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL), a State Department Program and the Office of Head Start, Regional Program Manager for Region IV, located in Atlanta, Georgia.  She is currently a Consultant with Muster Seed, LLC.

Based on the National Head Start Initiative, ‘The Road Map to Excellence’, Ms. Goss’ vision of ‘Nothing Less Than Excellence’ was realized;

“Our Head Start children deserve nothing but the best that we have to give. We have the privilege and honor of shaping history as we develop socially, emotionally developed, children ready and eager to learn for the rest of their lives. We are nurturing and developing the teachers, doctors, nurses, scientist, legislators, and presidents of tomorrow”Our ‘A’ game and nothing less will be accepted”. 

Ms. Goss holds a B.A. Rehabilitation Services; an M.A. Organizational Leadership is a former Internal Consultant for the Ohio Association of Community Action Agencies; and is certified in several curriculums.
