OACAA would like to extend a warm welcome to Emily Nolan as a new member of Ohio’s Community Action Network!
Emily joined the OACAA staff as the Communications and Development Specialist in May 2021. In this role, Emily will work closely with OACAA Communications Director Kathryn Clausen and Development Director Josh Summer to generate content and assist in grant writing efforts.
Though she is new to the network, Emily is a long-term supporter of nonprofit work. She began her philanthropy efforts as a Girl Scout and frequently volunteered at local food pantries, nursing homes, and soup kitchens. At the age of 10, Emily founded an annual food drive that benefited the Hilliard food pantry. She collected and donated thousands of canned and nonperishable goods during the eight years she conducted her drive. Emily was honored to pass on this food drive to a diligent neighborhood member when she entered college.
Emily received a Bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in journalism from Wittenberg University. During her collegiate years, Emily worked at the Writing Center, The University Communication Office, and the Advancement Office where she developed her technical writing skills and gained experience in development work.
As a recipient of an undergraduate research award, she conducted a three-year quantitative study in the writing center field. She presented the results of her findings alongside her research partners at both regional and international conferences. Her work has also been published three times in notable field journals.
Emily is excited to join the OACAA staff and assist in efforts to support the industrious network of Ohio Community Action Agencies. Please join us in welcoming Emily!
