OACAA would like to thank Ms. Lewis for her contributions to the Community Action mission.

Name: Nancy Lewis
Title: Director of Clinical Services
Agency: Ironton-Lawrence County Community Action Organization
Time with Community Action: 42 years

Nancy Lewis began her career with Ironton-Lawrence County CAO in 1976. She began her journey as a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and, over the years, has moved up within the agency. She quickly transitioned to Clinical Supervisor then to Director of Health Integration. Nancy currently serves as the Director of Clinical Services.

Nancy has a long history of working alongside community partners to increase services available throughout Lawrence County such as the initiative to provide Kindergarten Physicals for Ironton City Schools. She also served on the Strategic Planning Committee for the Lawrence County Health Department and has proudly served as a mentor to our local Family Guidance Center for our partner “Spectrum.” Nancy has been recognized many times throughout the years.

“Future generations who visit Community Action’s Nancy Lewis Family Medical Center in Proctorville, Ohio, may wonder who Nancy Lewis was but, those who were blessed to work with her will never forget her,” said Donald Gossett, executive director of ILCAO. “The continuous awards the Family Medical Centers have received for high quality care, and the integration of Behavioral Health and other empowering services through Community Action can be directly attributed to Nancy’s efforts.”

Nancy has continually shown her commitment to her job and family, as she treats everyone at her job like family. She is not only an outstanding individual but an outstanding professional as well. Nancy’s joy of taking care of children resonates—especially when she is able to provide direct care in a provider’s absence. Nancy has been recognized as a “pacesetter” by the National Board of Pediatric Practitioners & Associates, received the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing Circle of Excellence in Recognition of Outstanding Contributions in Clinical Practice. She is also a recipient of Marshall University’s College of Nursing and Health professions MSN-FNP Alumni Association’s Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award.

“Nancy is a person of empathy and compassion combined with an ambition to be sure that the underserved in Lawrence County receive the best care,” said Gossett. “Nancy is one of the true heroes of Community Action in Lawrence County and her efforts are invaluable and can never be repaid.”
