Year-End Fundraising Ideas

It’s hard to believe that another year has come and nearly gone. As we look forward to the holidays and reflect on 2017, many of us are also planning year-end fundraising campaigns to kick-start our efforts to help low-income Ohioans in 2018 and beyond.

If you haven’t already started, or are looking to add to your year-end planning options in 2018, here are a few ideas and resources. Please keep in mind that OACAA is not endorsing any of the services discussed below, though hope the links provided will help you get your research started.

  1. Giving Tuesday. Once you’ve scored some great deals on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is there to help you give back. You can find some great ideas, a complete toolkit for your type of organization, and more on the #GivingTuesday website. Giving Tuesday is November 28th this year! Let us know what you have planned in the comments.
  2. Donate Here. Online giving has become a popular way to give. Adding donation buttons to your website provide opportunities for visitors to give once or even set up reoccurring donations. There are a number of services available to help you get started such as Network For Good, PayPal, and more.
  3. Facebook Fundraiser. Facebook now has an option that allows individuals to develop a campaign for registered nonprofit organizations! Your supporters and ambassadors can quickly and easily generate income for your agency by starting a donation campaign on Facebook. To be eligible to receive donations, you must apply for Facebook’s charitable giving tools. And, your agency may be eligible to receive matching funds from Facebook and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation on #GivingTuesday, along with waiving all feeds for donations.
  4. Text-to-Give Campaigns. Mobile phones have become our on-the-go-to technology for everything from directions, quick fact-checking, and yes, even donating and supporting a cause. A number of services provide online full mobile-friendly donation platforms, that can also connect you with the texting and micro-donation campaign options. Providers like @Pay, Connect2Give, SecureGive and others offer a wide range of features at various price points that may work for your agency.
